The Dodge City Trail of Fame, Inc. is a walking tour of the Old Dodge City historic district. The trail is marked with sidewalk medallions and statuary to commemorate the many famous and infamous denizens of historic Dodge City. Additionally, many medallions are dedicated to notable movie and television stars who have portrayed famous Dodge Citians. The Dodge City Trail of Fame, Inc. is an ongoing project which is expected to continue for many years to come. Eventually, there should be 80 to 100 of the 24 inch diameter bronze sidewalk medallions and a number of historic sculptures throughout the historic district. Start your walking tour at the Dodge City Convention and Visitors Bureau Information Center on Wyatt Earp Blvd. near Boot Hill and Applebees. Tours may be specially arranged for groups at any time by contacting the Dodge City Trail of Fame at: 620-561-1925

Our Latest News!
The Dodge City Trail of Fame is working tirelessly with the City of Dodge City, Ford County, the Dodge City Tourism Coalition and Heberling Associates to develop a badly needed Master Tourism plan for the "Queen of the Cowtowns". The plan will hopefully improve the tourist experience in Dodge City as we showcase our incredible western heritage. Some possible facets of the plan are bringing the Grammy award winning group "RIDERS IN THE SKY" into the Dodge Theater as a home base and developing a tourism office and "Gunsmoke Museum".
- "Gunsmoke" 50th Anniversary items still available HERE!
- DVD of the entire Gunsmoke 50th Anniversary Celebration HERE!
- A limited number of commemorative medallions from the event are available in our online store (see left menu).
Physically, the Dodge City Trail of Fame wends its way through the Dodge City historic district from the newly restored Santa Fe Depot, sundial park and railroad caboose on the east and the Convention and Visitors Bureau and Boot Hill Museum on the west.
As a part of the project, special dedications of the sidewalk medallions are being conducted honoring the various individuals represented along the trail, much like the famous Hollywood Walk of Fame. On Sunday, September 11th, 2005, medallions were dedicated for Gunsmoke actors James Arness, Amanda Blake, Milburn Stone, and Ken Curtis. They will join already dedicated medallions for Buck Taylor and Dennis Weaver. The ceremony took place on the 50th anniversary of the very first Gunsmoke TV broadcast and in conjunction with a full Symposium on this remarkable TV Western and its cast and crew.
Other famous and historic western figures already memorialized include such names as Wyatt Earp, "Bat" Masterson, "Doc" Holliday, Gen. George A. Custer, "Big Nose" Kate Elder to name just a few.
Current center piece of the Dodge City Trail of Fame is the incredible sculpture of Wyatt Berry Stapp Earp, a larger than life likeness of the famous lawman, which stands on the northeast corner of Central Ave and Wyatt Earp Boulevard.
Guided tours of the Dodge City Trail of Fame and the Old Dodge City historic district are available for a nominal fee. Click the "inductees" list to see a list of those names already accepted for representation and those who have been proposed.
